These are my quotes that I have thought of, whilst going about my Caring duties.  My ultimate muse/inspiration is my very special Caree

" A person with an illness or disability is only part of what they suffer from, not who they are!"

"A Carer is what you do, not who you are."

"The loved ones whom we care for have much to teach us and ultimately mould and shape us into better people."

"You are stronger than you think."

"Caring works both ways, there are times when our Cared Ones are capable for caring for us too in their own special way, and in ways that they know how to - and that's special."

"Once a Carer always a Carer".

"We should stand back, reflect and be grateful for what we can do, as these are gifts to assist the ones that need our help."

"If we did not care for our loved ones - who would?"

"Carers are angels in disguise, we protect, love and fight for their rights."

"Our Cared ones are angels in disguise - we need them as much as they need us"

Here are some more of my favourite quotes written by others too...

"Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat."

People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care.

The smallest deed done is greater than the best intentions.

Don't be so busy adding up your troubles that you forget to count your blessings.

Love, honor and value yourself. You are doing an important job so pat yourself on the back! You are extra ordinary, truly an angel!

My favourite Autumn poem

John Keats (1795-1821)
                                TO AUTUMN.

                                           1.

   SEASON of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
       Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
   Conspiring with him how to load and bless
       With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
   To bend with apples the moss’d cottage-trees,
       And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
           To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
   With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
       And still more, later flowers for the bees,
       Until they think warm days will never cease,
           For Summer has o’er-brimm’d their clammy cells.

                                           2.

   Who hath not seen thee oft amid thy store?
       Sometimes whoever seeks abroad may find
   Thee sitting careless on a granary floor,
       Thy hair soft-lifted by the winnowing wind;
   Or on a half-reap’d furrow sound asleep,
       Drows’d with the fume of poppies, while thy hook
           Spares the next swath and all its twined flowers:
   And sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep
       Steady thy laden head across a brook;
       Or by a cyder-press, with patient look,
           Thou watchest the last oozings hours by hours.

                                           3.

   Where are the songs of Spring? Ay, where are they?
       Think not of them, thou hast thy music too,—
   While barred clouds bloom the soft-dying day,
       And touch the stubble plains with rosy hue;
   Then in a wailful choir the small gnats mourn
       Among the river sallows, borne aloft
           Or sinking as the light wind lives or dies;
   And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn;
       Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble soft
       The red-breast whistles from a garden-croft;
          And gathering swallows twitter in the skies.

The autumn leaves are falling
And it's raining in my heart.
Every leaf that tumbles down
Marks the years we've been apart.
On the roses that you loved
All the petals drop and die
The summer sun has faded
And the clouds begin to cry.
But the golden autumn colours
In the in the bright and cold sunshine
Bring back the happy memories
Of the days when you were mine.

Thank you for your kind comments Krys, I'm glad you enjoyed it as much I as did!

Jean - your poem is so beautiful, you really are a multi-faceted, talented Carer, I enjoy reading your poems - you should complie an anthology someday - please reserve my signed copy ;-).  I get the impression that you sound wistful and sad at the beginning of the poem, and then you remember the good times and that comforts you - was that the intention?

Take Care
Lola

It was indeed Lola.
Autumn, in my family, holds both the saddest and the happiest memories.

Leaving

Long have I lived here,
My children born and flown,
Laughter and love here,
This place , my place, my own.
Now all is lost and I must leave
With only the memory
Of all that I have loved here
To grieve for-and haunt me.
And this place that is home,
This place that I adore.
Will hear the echo
Of my footsteps nevermore.

I found this poem and it expresses everything about this Carers forum

Thank you for being there

Thank you for being there,
through every laugh, through every tear.
You helped me not to be scared,
About the things that I feared.
Thank you for the love that you have shown,
when you knew I would have blown.
You are an important person in my life,
You’ve helped me deal with my strife.
From time to time you always listened,
and when you did so your eyes always glistened.
You never put me down,
and you always knew how to turn my frown upsidedown.
Thank you for being there for me,
and letting me be who I want to be.

Some inspirational quotes:

"It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life,
that no man can sincerely try to help another without
(at the same time) helping himself."
Ralph Waldo Emerson, 1803-1882

"Only your compassion and your loving kindness are invincible, and without limit."
Thich Nhat Hanh

"How far that little candle throws his beams! So shines a good deed in a weary world."
William Shakespeare

"How beautiful a day can be when kindness touches it."
George Alliston

"All of us are born for a reason, but all of us don't discover why. Success in life has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It's what you do for others."
Danny Thomas
